Middle School

Dear Pioneer Families,

Beginning Monday, April 13, 2020, Croswell-Lexington Middle School will begin delivering online instruction to ensure the continuity of our children’s educational success. In order to achieve this goal, CLMS will be undertaking multiple approaches to establish learning avenues for all of our students.

For those of us who have internet availability, CLMS teachers will be offering online instruction through Google Classroom. Additionally, in order to make technology more available to our students, wi-fi hot-spots have been installed around the exteriors of all district buildings - connectivity can be achieved by simply pulling into the parking lot. As well, CLMS will be distributing student devices to 5th and 6th grade students/parents on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 and Tuesday, April 21, 2020, between the hours of 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the entrance located to the west of the cafeteria (westernmost entrance on the north side of the building). For those parents whose 7th or 8th grade students’ devices are currently in a locker and would like to retrieve it during these pick-up times, please email either Bethany Davis (bdavis@croslex.org) or Ryan Eugster (reugster@croslex.org), or leave a message at the Middle School office (810-679-1400). For those who are unable to make either of these two dates, appointments may be made after April 21, 2020 by contacting the aforementioned emails. The distributed devices will come with a User Agreement that confers parent and student responsibility for the physical well-being of the computer. Students and family members will stay in their vehicles during distribution and a staff member will bring the device to the vehicle.

For those families without internet connectivity, hard-copy resources will be made available. Workbooks and/or prepared packets will be available for pick-up on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, between the hours of 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the entrance located to the west of the cafeteria (westernmost entrance on the north side of the building). Please contact either Bethany Davis or Ryan Eugster by email, or call the Middle School office and leave a voicemail if your student will require hard-copy learning resources.

Finally, teachers and administration will be making contact with students, parents, and guardians during the Covid-19 school closure. While we hope to not over-burden parents with too many calls and emails, our intent is to ensure that we are providing our students with an as rich as possible educational experience and as many resources as we possibly can.

Social/Emotional Needs of Students

Mrs. Down has set up a social skills practice Google Classroom. She has also printed copies of lessons to include with the packets, for those without internet access. Mrs. Down will also be communicating with students via telephone throughout the coming weeks.
